Imeo has posted two instructional videos that will be useful to anyone keen on getting an insight into the workings of the latest GG mods about to be released. The first is a continuation from the Cybrillion video and goes a bit more in depth into cleaning and maintaining Cybrillion. The second video is a very lengthy breakdown into how to operate the hotly anticipated Proteus. I'll post both videos below for you to watch but remember you can also see them over on Imeo's channel HERE.
The suggested release date for Proteus has come and gone with there still being no signs of Proteus being ready. Imeo has stated that he is still waiting on his engineer to finish the tests on the pcb's. Fingers crossed it happens soon. In the meantime though I thought I wanted to share some news regarding Titanium Wire.
My preferred supplier of wires, the Vape Mesh Company, has started stocking Titanium and has three sizes available. 29, 26 and 24 AWG are in stock and come in 10 metre spools, more than enough to keep you going for a long while. Get yours at the link below!
If you are waiting on news of Proteus/VIR you might want to look away now. I have summed up the information across a few posts on ECF into the conversation below.
Imeo: "I would be ready Beco but my engineer left town for 2 weeks. Unfortunately he is not dedicated to my product. Sometimes he is thinking the wrong way and he cant understand that my customers are waiting anxiously for VIR. He is excellent on technical issues but very poor on business in general. Anyway, thats why I dont speak about Proteus the whole last week. I am waiting............"
Q: is he back in town yet?
Imeo: "yes, he is working hard now klepto. He needs 1 week to finish the production. Then I have to test all electronics, one by one"
Q: Imeo, you wrote a long time ago, that you are testing the electronics one by one. Now you do it again?
Imeo: "Not exactly jail. I tested almost half of them and they had issues. My electronic then left town. Now he is testing them again and then I have to do the same. Anyway, its a big story. I am giving you dates that I cant keep, so thats over for now because my engineer isnt accurate at all on dates. I will speak again when I will be really ready."
In the history of Golden Greek no project has taken this long or been as hotly anticipated. When it comes to mechanical mods Imeo has been able to produce new products with very little time from inception to creation. But with electronics come a whole new world of difficulties, the size of the board, the design, function of the software, quality testing, etc, etc. All these obstacles have stood in Imeo's way and he is trying his best to get past them.
But, this information does very little for the end users who are anxiously waiting for the latest GG mod. The most comforting news I can give is that Imeo is doing his best to wrap things up and that at the very least things are still moving. We still have no firm release date and until then all we can do is wait and hope Imeo can perform his Greek magic on those illusive chips!
As we are getting (hopefully) nearer to the release of Proteus I wanted to repost these instructions from ECF. Maybe this will prove useful to anyone planning on purchasing Proteus. I plan on adding images once Proteus is released to make this guide easier to understand.
THE PROTEUS IS IN YOUR HANDS:
1. Battery Installation: Unscrew the brass tube and insert an 14500 IMR battery with the positive side up. Screw the brass tube back in. If the battery fails to make contact, unscrew the venting cap and adjust the small brass bolt inside.
2. Lock the Proteus: After installing the battery, wait six (6) seconds until Proteus locks. A GREEN light will blink several times followed by a BLUE light which stays on for two (2) seconds. The Proteus is now locked.
3. Attach an Atomizer: Connect an atomizer (equipped with a Titanium Grade 1 Coil) to the Proteus.
4. Detect Configuration: Press the button five (5) times in quick succession. The light will blink RED while detecting your configuration. The Proteus has detected your configuration once the light turns ORANGE and remains on for two (2) seconds. This process can take from twenty-five (25) seconds to sixty (60) seconds depending on the temperature of your atomizer.
5. Vape: You're ready to go! Push the button to vape!
LIGHTS THAT WILL APPEAR DURING VAPING:
One (1) short RED blink: The Proteus is vaping at a lower temperature because the battery cannot sustain the set temperature level.
Ten (10) fast GREEN blinks: Your atomizer is fed badly or is running out of liquid. On Golden Greek atomizers, opening the liquid control may resolve the problem. If the problem persists, you probably have to refill your atomizer.
Five (5) slow WHITE blinks: The battery's charge is getting low. Either change your battery or consider moving to a lower temperature to prolong battery life. Also, the five (5) slow WHITE blinks may occur because of bad connection between your battery and Proteus's cap. Please raise the small brass bolt inside the cap.
Steady BLUE light for two (2) seconds: The Proteus is locked because the button was depressed for more than fifteen (15) seconds. To unlock the Proteus, press the button five (5) times in quick succession.
Ten (10) fast RED blinks: Your atomizer has a lower resistance than VIR can handle or your atomizer is shorting. Check your atomizer or make a new coil. Before you make a new coil, wash your atomizer under running water to remove any small pieces of wire that remain from your previous coil set up, which may be shorting it.
Steady ORANGE light for three (3) seconds: Your battery is damaged. Please dont use it anymore and recycle it in the proper way.
MENU:
Note: The working temperature range is 180-280 degrees Celsius. The Proteus remembers all your settings after the battery has been changed.
Up Menu - Increase Temperature: Push the button three (3) times and keep the button depressed for one (1) second. The RED light will stay on. While the RED light is on, push the button one (1) time to increase the temperature by ten (10) degrees Celsius, two (2) times to increase by twenty (20) degrees Celsius, and so on...
Down Menu - Decrease Temperature: Push the button four (4) times and keep the button depressed for one (1) second. The GREEN light will stay on. While the GREEN light is on, push the button one (1) time to decrease the temperature by ten (10) degrees Celsius, two (2) times to decrease by twenty (20) degrees Celsius, and so on...
Lock the Proteus: Push the button five (5) times. A BLUE light will stay on for two (2) seconds, indicating that your Proteus is now locked.
Unlock the Proteus: Push the button five (5) times. A BLUE light will blink three (3) times, indicating that your Proteus is now unlocked.
Check Set Temperature: Go to either the Up or Down Menus and, when either the RED or GREEN lights turn on, release the button. An ORANGE light will start blinking slowly, each blink indicating one step in temperature. Each step is ten (10) degrees Celsius. The total number of blinks will let you know what temperature you are at. One blink indicates 180 degrees Celsius. Two blinks indicates 190 degrees Celsius, and so on...
Stop LED's from Blinking: Push the button one (1) time.
CHANGING THE ATOMIZER:
If you want to vape again on the same atomizer (without changing the coil), lock the Proteus and then disconnect the atomizer. Reconnect this atomizer when you are ready, unlock the Proteus, and vape!
If you want to vape with a different atomizer (or change the coil in existing atomizer), disconnect your OLD atomizer and let Proteus lock by itself. Now connect the NEW atomizer and unlock the Proteus. Wait for it to detect your configuration. The Proteus will blink red while detecting your configuration and the process will finish when an ORANGE light remains on for two (2) seconds. This may take from twenty-five (25) to sixty (60) seconds depending on the temperature of your atomizer. You're ready to vape again!
VERY IMPORTANT TIPS AND TRICKS:
Please operate the Proteus up to 240 Celsius degrees to have a decent battery life. Especially on GG atomizers (Penelopes), you can gain more battery life by NOT opening a lot the liquid control
Keep threads and contacts clean, otherwise your Proteus will not work as you expect.
The threads of the coil must NOT touch each other
The legs of the coil (the distance between coil and posts that keep wires) should be the shortest possible
The coil should be wound tightly, and with uniform tightness, around the entire length of the wick.
Keep all your electrical connections tight.
If the Proteus gets stuck to a menu, release the connection to the battery, wait 3 seconds and reconnect the battery. You will not loose any of your settings.
If the Proteus suddenly starts detecting your configuration, it losts conductivity because of bad connections. Check battery's and atomizer's internal and external connections before start vaping again
Range of Ti wires sizes that are recommended for atomizers which will go on Proteus: 0,20 mm - 0,50 mm.
OTHER SPECIFICATIONS OF THE ELECTRONIC PART:
1. Atomizer detection.
2. Working atomizer check.
3. Battery check.
4. Lock Mode.
5. 15 seconds cutoff.
6. Short circuit protection.
7. Reverse battery protection.
8. Over-discharge battery protection.
9. Thermal monitoring.
10. Atomizer doesn't work at all when you go from one menu to another, something that saves battery and also doesn't annoy the user.
11. It works with 1x3,7 volt battery, with 2x3,7 volt batteries and with 2x3 volt batteries.
12. Remembers your last set up.
13. 8,8 ampere upper limit
14. 8 volts upper limit
15. Resistance range: 0,45-1,35 ohms.
16. The shortest and thinnest electronic PCBA today.
17. It goes on and off its tube like a mobile card (no wires anywhere).
18. Totally mechanical button. There is no electronic button on the PCBA.
19. Five colour led.
20. Battery autobalance: Proteus vapes even if battery is down to 3,45 volts!
21. you know when you run out of liquid
22. it vapes the same way in all environments (very hot - very cold)
Imeo has just posted a new video, I think he's said it's the last video on Proteus before it's release. With any luck the next time you see Proteus in a video it will be by a reviewer.
Imeo runs through making the best sort of coil and some safety tests to demonstrate how VIR works. The dry wick test is really impressive. I'm sure there isn't a vaper reading this who hasn't hit a dry wick before and had that horrible burnt taste. To be rid of this unwelcome occurrence has got to be one of VIR's best tricks.
The method of increasing battery life through liquid control is interesting too and something I've never thought about before. I'm never too far from a charger though with Proteus taking smaller batteries this is a point worth remembering.
Now all we need is for Imeo to finally set VIR/Proteus free so users can experience these benefits for themselves.
It's been a long, long wait for Proteus. A major part of the wait was Imeo's designing, testing and manufacturing difficulties he had to overcome. I know nothing about the complexities involved in designing the VIR chip but I can appreciate it's not something that comes easy. Also add into this the fact that it was designed to be as small as possible, it is unbelievable how small it is.
It seems VIR/Proteus has been a task that has really pushed Imeo, the longest project in GG history. Imeo is to be admired for his desire for perfection and not rushing development despite the constant longing of GG fans everywhere.
It has been a long wait but now it looks as though we are one step closer to seeing a release. Imeo has said today that he hopes to send Proteus to his sellers in around 10 days time.
"the most possible is that I will not make preorders and send the stuff to my sellers Seek. The reason is that we will have a delay like this because we would need 1 week for preorders, 1 week for letting customers change serials etc. So, I believe that in 10 days I will send all Proteus to my sellers and they will assemble and send them to you"
"sellers will receive their reserved numbers 67, so all people on the list will be able to buy from their seller. If some people on the list dont finally buy their reservation, the seller will send to the customers (that are on the lower priority list), the lower serial they asked for. USA serials will be send to European sellers. And some USA serials will be send to a new USA seller (if he manage to be ready until sales start)"
It would appear from this that there has still not been anything sorted out with Fluid but there is some hope for a US seller by the release date. The good news is Imeo seems ready to let Proteus out into the wild. Obviously this information is subject to change but it looks very likely that March will see the release of the next big thing in vaping. Fingers crossed!
We are finally getting very close to the release of Proteus and to prepare people Imeo has made a video showing the changes he has made. I've posted the video here for you to watch as it would take far too long to explain everything properly. Instead I am copying below the instructions from the Proteus thread on ECFby Imeo with help from proteckt3d. Along with the video it should give you a good idea of how VIR/Proteus works.
Instructions for Proteus
PROTEUS IS IN YOUR HANDS: 1. To install a battery, unscrew the brass part and insert an 14500 IMR battery, positive side up. Screw the brass part again. If the battery is not making contact, please unscrew the venting cap and adjust the small brass bolt inside it. 2. Wait 6 seconds until Proteus locks (you will see green light blinking a few times and then a blue light will stay on for 2 seconds). 3. Connect an atomizer on Proteus which has a Titanium grade 1 coil. 4. Unlock Proteus by pressing 5 quick times the button. You will have a red light blinking slowly. Dont interfere with the device during this procedure. After blinking stops (in about 25 sec on a cold atomizer or in about 1 minute on a very hot atomizer), you will have a fixed orange light that stays on for about 2 seconds and shows that auto detection function is finished. 5. Push the button to vape.
LIGHTS THAT WILL APPEAR DURING VAPING: 1 short red blink: You vape at lower temperature because battery cannot sustain the set temperature level. 10 green fast blinks: Your atomizer is bad fed or its running out of liquid, so you have to refill it. Especially on GG atomizers, you can just open the liquid control. If the problem persists, you have to refill. 5 slow white blinks: The charge in the battery is getting low and soon it will be discharged completely. Change your battery or go to a lower temperature step. Blue light is steady on for 2 seconds: Proteus is locked because the button was pushed for more than 15 seconds (press button 5 times to unlock it). 10 red fast blinks: Short circuit, meaning that your atomizer has a lower resistance than VIR can handle, or your atomizer is shorting. Check your atomizer or make a new coil. Before you make a new coil, wash your atomizer under running water to remove any small pieces of wires that may be shorting it.
MENU: Note: The range of the working temperature is 180-280 Celsius degrees. Proteus remembers the temperature setting and all your settings in general after battery is changed. Up menu - Increase temperature level: push 3 times and keep the button pushed for 1 sec. The red light will stay on. While its on, push the button 1 time to increase the temperature 10 Celsius degrees, 2 times for 20 Celsius degrees increase, etc Down menu-Decrease temperature level: push 4 times and keep the button pushed for 1 sec. The green light will stay on. While its on, push the button 1 time to decrease the temperature 10 Celsius degrees, 2 times for 20 Celsius degrees decrease, etc Lock Proteus: push the button 5 times (blue light stays on for 2 seconds) Unlock Proteus: push the button 5 times (blue light blinks 3 times) Check set temperature: Go to either the Up or Down menu and when either the red or the green lights turn on, release the button. An orange light will start blinking slowly, each blink indicating one step in temperature ( 10 Celsius degrees). The total number of blinks will let you know what temperature you are at. Stop led's blinkings in general: push 1 time the button
CHANGING ATOMIZER: If you want to vape again on the same atomizer (or without changing the coil on it), lock Proteus - disconnect the atomizer - connect it again when you are ready. Unlock and vape If you want to vape with a different atomizer (or with the same atomizer in witch you changed the coil), let Proteus lock by itself - connect the new atomizer - unlock - wait until orange light turns on (after 25 sec-1 min, depending of how cold or hot the atomizer is) and vape.
CLEANING: Keep threads and contacts clean, otherwise your Proteus will not work as you expect.
I am sure once people get Proteus in their hands it won't take too long to figure out how to use it. From what I saw in the video it's looking very good and working very well and the best news is it is not too far away now.
Imeo recently asked in the Proteus thread for suggestions from people on what they would like to see incorporated into a new GG. Various answers were given and in reply Imeo posted this response.
"sure Zu, I heard and I think that I made exactly what you want. You will like it very much. In 2 days I will make a video about it and you will see for one more time how GG line makes exactly what people like. New, different, innovated. Just the way you like it!"
I'm still amazed at how Imeo manages to squeeze in more products at the same time as developing others. We'll see in two days what he's come up with, I'm crossing my fingers for a box mod. Whatever it is, hopefully it will help fill the gap until Proteus is ready.
Just some quick news for those that haven't heard. Imeo has a problem with one of his machines that he is using to assemble Proteus. The machine needs to be fixed before he can continue any work on Proteus.
Unfortunately this means there will be a delay with the release of Proteus, now due sometime after the new year. While this is bad news for those waiting for Proteus at the very least it means Proteus will eventually be made correctly.
This may be a blessing in disguise, as others have pointed out, Christmas post is unreliable at best. Hopefully the faulty machine is up and running soon bringing us one step closer to seeing a Proteus for sale. As many people already know, technology moves fast, I would hate to see too many delays, rendering Proteus redundant before it's even released.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and my eyes open for any more developments.
Some happy and sad news to start with. If there is any doubt that ecigs are a valuable aid in breaking away from tobacco use, forum user, D Stanley Querfurth's story should serve as a good example of what can be achieved. Here's an edited quote from Stan.
I started with 18mg nicotine and a ego t ...
it took me a few month to get to GG,
but when I began to rebuild my atomisers I also began to mix my own liquid.
I reduced the nicotine level every time I had to mix new liquid..
Today I am off any nicotine, and after a while
I stopped vaping too..
Stan has been a valued member of the GG forum, posting great pictures of his weird and wonderful set ups as well as offering advice on the compatibility of old and newer GG parts. I'm really happy for Stan that he has been able to reach this goal but I'll miss seeing his posts and pictures.
Imeo has stated Proteus will be ready before Christmas. At the time of writing this gives us around 4 weeks to go. It's not too long before people will be able to own their own piece of the latest GG technology. To recap and for anyone new to Proteus here is my huge list of collected information:
Proteus will be 100mm in length and 17mm total width
It will take a 14500 battery
Proteus will be the first 14500 tube battery holder with electronics to keep the voltage steady, something that those batteries need
It will be first battery holder mod with removable electronics on it
It will have a venting cap for safety just like the GGTS
The tube will be engraved with a deep engraving, (My guess is wings and serial number)
No springs anywhere inside Proteus (battery or button). Springs are what cause all the problems in any kind of electrical devices
Adjustable front cap so battery will always make contact even without a spring
AD control (like GGTS)
Separate electronic button unit seperate from the main tube, that can be swapped out if electronics fail.
The button has the following functions:
lock-unlock option
protection if we put battery in the wrong way
short cirquit protection
boost voltage from 3 to 7,4 volts
cut current if button gets pressed more than 14 seconds
flat SS button
Early pre-production Proteus
Atomizer detection
Working atomizer check
Battery check
On/Off Mode
18 seconds cutoff
Short circuit protection
Reverse battery protection
Over-discharge battery protection
Thermal monitoring
Atomizer doesn't work at all when you go from one menu to another, something that saves battery and doesn't annoy the user
Watt range: 5-25 with 1 battery and 5-35 with 2 batteries increased by 1 watt per push of the button (please operate Proteus up to 15 watts)
You know when you reach the lowest and the upper limit of watts
It works with 1 battery 3,7 volt, with 2x3,7 volt batteries and with 2x3 volt batteries
Remembers your last set up
8,3 ampere upper limit and 400 mA lowest limit
8 volts upper limit and 0,5 volt lowest limit
Resistance range: 0,4-12,5 ohms
The smallest and thinnest electronic part today
It goes on and off its tube like a mobile card
Totally mechanical button. There is no electronic button on the pcba
Button comes off for cleaning without any effort. Just grab it with your nails and put it out
Five colour led
It was VV/VW mode. I left only VW mode and I added 1 more secret feature. Ι will let you know about it when time comes.
There is a pre-order list for Proteus where you can claim a serial number. You can see the list of available serials at the link below.
Imeo has also said that sometime soon he will ask that people on the list prepay, to allow them time to confirm their number and pay for it. For anyone wanting more information about Proteus you can get to the Official thread below.
Finally a reminder to all that every month Imeo gives people a chance to win a GG item in a contest. There should be a new GG contest starting early in December so keep an eye on the forum for your chance to win.
It feels like a very long time since Proteus was announced and although there is still no firm release date, we are nearer to the end than the beginning of development. As much as we want Imeo to announce a date he is making sure everything is perfect for the release.
One thing you can do while you wait is to get a serial number, if that is important to you. There is a thread over on ECF with all the numbers that are taken. If you can find a number that isn't taken you just need to post a comment asking for it. Imeo will then reply, letting you know if it is available.
I don't envy any of the sellers when Proteus is revealed as sorting out all the parts and matching them to customers is going to be a huge undertaking. I think the option of choosing a serial number is great for end users, not so great for production and sellers. I'm sure I read somewhere that the next batch of JustGG and Stealth will have no serials, so make the most of this chance to get your unique number.
Now that Esterigon and Tilemahos have made their appearances, the two releases most GG fans are most looking forward to are Proteus along with VIR. With Proteus the complexity of the design and build, software requirements and Imeo's desire for perfection has meant a longer time to bring it to market. VIR remains as mysterious as ever, no-one really knows anything about it. It's often talked about but Imeo is keeping the details of VIR secret now.
For the official word on Proteus and VIR I have collected together these quotes from Imeo, all made within the last few days.
"Proteus will carry VIR. It will soon come to the market and it will impress you so much that you will not believe your eyes and ears....." "VIR is the end of vaping monk. Its what you were waiting for years. Its the biggest surprise ever made. Bigger than the first mech mod, bigger that variable devices, telescopic, 4 in 1 connector, etc......" "monk, I am almost ready. The only issue is that I cant fit all the software to the chip, so I have to reduce its capabilities. It will still be the biggest thing around." "if it was a VV or a VW device, I wouldn't speak a lot Jon. But it's not." "I never made something that someone else made. Just check my history and you will see that all my innovations are unique and all started from me..." "........I am trying hard to fix the last issues with the electronic......." "............ You don't know how much I want this project to be made. It will be the biggest surprise out there..........." ".....proteus and VIR (Release) at the same time....." - IMEO
In recent Golden Greek products design and build quality have increased dramatically, while at the same time keeping the core essence of a GG. So, when Imeo says the things above, I am willing to bet that Proteus and the mysterious VIR are going to be real game changers, keeping Golden Greek at the top of the vaping world.
We might not be any nearer to a release but we at least know something fantastic is coming.
Upcoming preorder
I had listed a lot of information here about the coming preorder but it seems that it is out of date now. There will be a preorder soon but Imeo is trying to figure out the best way to do it. I think he is trying to find a way to keep everyone happy and I know that is a hard thing to do.
The best way of keeping up with how the preorder will work is to watch this thread on ecf.
I have been going through the Official Proteus Thread on ECF to get the latest scoop on the next big thing in vaping. On the 26th of May Imeo posted the following information in regards to the progress on Proteus.
"I received the spare electronic parts one week ago and I am making some new quick experiments with them. In about 1 more week I will take the whole sample in my hands and start vaping it. I need at least 1 week to test it. If all are ok then I am ordering the big batch of electronic parts and start assembling. The bad thing is that I always have an issue while testing electronic parts. A very simple issue but its still an issue for me. I want to make it perfect. I am really sorry for the waiting but I want to make a flawless electronic part."
From this we can see that things are still progressing but by the sounds of it Imeo still has some tweaking and perfecting to do. Releasing a product that is not perfect is not Imeo's style, even if it means longer waiting times for GG fans. I don't think there has ever been a GG item that wasn't worth the wait though.
GG Battery?
My idea of what a GG battery might look like
In other news check out this recent question posted by JeffvapesGG on ECF,
"I generally like to vape around 20-30 ... Would the 2 batteries be about the same size as a 14500 single battery. What two batteries would we use for 30 watts?"
Imeo replied,
"2x14250 Jeff. I am working on those batteries as we speak. I am talking with several factories to make me a battery, 14250 that can release at least 2 amperes each."
Can we take this to mean Imeo is having custom GG batteries made? As with all things in development, this may or may not get produced. If these did get made it would be cool to have some GG batteries, complete with wings, getting us one step closer to a 100% GG mod. Obviously if I find out anything more I'll let you know.
While Esterigon is looking fantastic the most anticipated GG release is Proteus. Imeo has taken his time in designing and manufacturing it and rightly so. It seems that we are nearly at the end of this long wait and before too long Proteus will wing it's way into the hands of GG fans all over the world.
I had previously written about Proteus but now have some more recent facts to add. Below is the list of features from Imeo, outlining the functionality of Proteus. Note the addition of a 'secret feature' on line 23.
Proteus's Electronic specifications:
1. Atomizer detection
2. Working atomizer check
3. Battery check
4. On/Off Mode
5. 18 seconds cutoff
6. Short circuit protection
7. Reverse battery protection
8. Over-discharge battery protection
9. Thermal monitoring
10. Atomizer doesn't work at all when you go from one menu to another, something that saves battery and doesn't annoy the user
11. Watt range: 5-25 with 1 battery and 5-35 with 2 batteries increased by 1 watt per push of the button (please operate Proteus up to 15 watts)
12. You know when you reach the lowest and the upper limit of watts
13. It works with 1 battery 3,7 volt, with 2x3,7 volt batteries and with 2x3 volt batteries
14. Remembers your last set up
15. 8,3 ampere upper limit and 400 mA lowest limit
16. 8 volts upper limit and 0,5 volt lowest limit
17. Resistance range: 0,4-12,5 ohms
18. The smallest and thinnest electronic part today
19. It goes on and off its tube like a mobile card

22. Five colour led
23. It was VV/VW mode. I left only VW mode and I added 1 more secret feature. Ι will let you know about it when time comes.
As you can see it is a full featured list of functions that should be more than enough for any user. The smaller form factor should also be another popular feature. Coupled with a Penelope, the Proteus will make a fantastic addition to anyone's collection. There is still no date for release but it does look worth waiting for.
After the failure of my computer equipment I have managed to get a new PC and get back online. It seems I have a lot of catching up to do but I'm confident normal service will be resumed shortly.
For now here is a video by Imeo where he goes into a lot of detail on the functions of Proteus. To me the operation seems fairly simple, Imeo demonstrates how easy it is to adjust settings whilst using Proteus. I am more impressed with Proteus each time I see it.
Check back soon for more updates on anything new I find out and for more Golden Greek content.
Firstly let me offer my apologies for the lack of posts recently. My PC has died, hard drive and power unit gone, so I have found it very hard to get online. Having said that if the news of the two new GG's on the way is old news to you, please forgive me.
So Imeo has at last posted some videos showing a better view of the upcoming Proteus and Esterigon. The videos can be seen on his channel here. As usual Imeo has outdone himself and created some innovative and unique creations. In the Youtube videos Imeo explains in detail all the modifications he has made with both designs. Proteus looks like it was worth the wait. Every little detail has been very carefully planned and thought out. The electronic part of it looks very simple to use and Imeo has somehow managed to make it small enough to not affect the overall look.
Top:Proteus Bottom:Esterigon
Esterigon is also a very cool looking GG. The locking system is great and the small button, situated at the top end, seems like a breeze to use. I have to admit I would love to have seen a bottom button as an option but I do agree with Imeo in regards to the practical issues involved with bottom button placement.
The fact that Esterigon is the same diameter as the Iatty will please a lot of users. Imeo does show in the videos that Esterigon is able to power Oddy and Ithaka too without looking out of place. I imagine the multitude of other tanks out there will look fine too.
Without a doubt these will both be very popular and maybe the start of a slightly different direction for the GG. I didn't think I would see Imeo try to produce an electronic e-cig such as the Proteus but he has delivered on his promises and made something very special. The exciting thing is Imeo seems to have something better up his sleeve and that's why I love the GG.
Just a quick post before we reach the end of the year. Imeo has added a video to his Youtube showing the Ithaka as a dripper. He mentions making a new top/mouthpiece for the Ithaka which would be great as I'm sure a lot of people would like to use the new Ithaka centre parts in drip mode.
What makes this video even more exciting is the device Imeo is using to test the Ithaka on. You can see it at the side of the screen at the start of the video. Later on you will notice the red warning light flashing before Imeo changes the battery. He is very good at keeping it hidden in his hands as he uses it, some top class magician skills there!
This is a great little video for GG users to get excited about. It won't be too long before Proteus is revealed and with the new Ithaka update making more possibilities in terms of vaping, there is a lot to look forward to in the coming year.
"If you eliminate the voltage problem that small batteries have keeping them steady then there is no problem vaping at 3,6 volts. The bad thing with smaller batteries is the voltage drop, we will not have this now." - Imeo
This is a quote from Imeo on probably the most anticipated Golden Greek mod at the moment, the Variable Voltage Proteus. Imeo still has the mod under wraps and so far the only sighting of it has been a picture I've posted before, said to be a prototype, on the GG wiki. Understandably Imeo is reluctant to release too much information about Proteus before he has it ready for sale. There are some details that can be discovered in various threads although I would not take these as 100% accurate, as there is always a chance things could change in the final design.
So, what do we know so far? The following is an edited list of points made by Imeo in regard to the new GG.
The button has the following functions:
lock-unlock option protection if we put battery in the wrong way short cirquit protection boost voltage from 3 to 7,4 volts cut current if button gets pressed more than 14 seconds flat SS button
From the list we can see that the Proteus will be loaded with features and will receive the high level of attention Imeo gives to all his inventions. I'm pretty sure the main body of the Proteus won't have too many surprises, it's the electronic part most people are interested in.
There are plenty of VV mods in the market now but it will be interesting to see Imeo's unique take on things. Also there are a lot of GG owners using a Kick to vary performance of their mods, so maybe a home grown variable volt GG product could be a springboard to a GGTS/JustGG type add on for VV vaping.
When can we expect the Proteus to be available? Without doubt this is going to be a very popular item bringing GG back in line with current vaping trends. No firm date for release has been given so far but I'd like to finish this article with another quote by Imeo. He posted this yesterday on ECF.
"Soon they will find a great home Its (GG forum member). Proteus experiments come to an end. I hope that in about less than 10 days I will be able to show you something very very special. No other electronic device is made like this." - Imeo
Ithaka Update
It has been a very good year for Golden Greek owners with the release of JustGG and Penelope V2 being two of the highlights. Imeo manages to keep interest and demand high for everything he develops despite the growing number of other mods available. I am always pleasantly surprised with the way Imeo can invent or re-invent a product, JustGG is a good example of this.
Despite the fairly recent release of his last creations Imeo shows no sign of slowing down and has more aces up his sleeve. The first is something I have been secretly hoping for, the Ithaka update. It will enable coil making in a much simpler way, doing away with the need for NR wire. Check out this video to see what I mean.
I think this new part will be very popular and will help save time and money for those making their own coils. Although it looks like a complicated set up remember once it is assembled you will only need to re-coil when required, not do a full build of the part.
Proteus
Another release that is building anticipation is the new variable voltage Proteus. I have not really tried VV vaping myself apart from stacking batteries and using a pass-thru but I understand that there are a huge number of VV fans out there. The inclusion of the Proteus into the GG line will mean there is a GG for just about all vapers.
As usual Proteus will have a serial number for which there is a thread on ECF for those wanting to register a particular number. I'm not sure when the Proteus will be released but it is not too far away now. There is not a lot of information available for Proteus which is understandable with the cloning situation but there is this one picture from the wiki.
Proteus prototype with Penelope
I think it looks pretty nice with that Penelope and the idea of being able to dial in your perfect set up seems too good to miss. I really can't wait to see the final version and see what users have to say about it.
The only question now is what next? Imeo always finds some way of surprising everyone so I'm sure whatever comes next will be great. In the meantime we have some exciting new additions to look forward to.
As I write this the shipments of Just GG's have been posted and are on the way to GG sellers, where they will be sorted and posted out to those lucky enough to have bought one. After a few minor delays during production I know this comes as good news to many.
From the brief glimpses I've seen so far, I am sure this is going to be a very good GG and maybe take the title of King of the GG line. The GGTS has had a good run, it's still hugely popular and is still very much in demand but it will be interesting to see how well the Just GG is received.
So far the Just GG is a limited run, after which there are lots of projects Imeo wants to get finished. When these are completed maybe Imeo will do another run, if there is enough demand.
Talking of GG projects, Imeo has revealed plans to stop development of Achilles. There were mixed responses to this news on the forums. I know it is not a choice Imeo made lightly and I hope one day he might re visit the idea. Personally I liked the idea of an all GG UFS.
The good news is that instead of Achilles, Imeo has been working on the new Penelope rebuildable and Proteus, for which there is already a huge list for those wanting specific serial numbers.
Exciting times ahead for GG users, starting now with the traditional stalking of the mailman/woman for Just GG. If you have one on the way I hope you don't have to wait too long!
