Pic of the Month March 2014

Due to not being able to get online I didn't get to post Pic of the month for March, so I'm doing it now. As usual it was a hard task to pick one picture from the great selection that was posted.

The picture I chose for March is this one from active forum member D Stanley Querfurth. I imagine Stan as the Willy Wonka of the GG world, he often posts images of his fantastic GG collection along with some amazing drip tips and set ups. There is always something different about his pictures making a nice change from the stock look of the majority of posted images.

The winner for April is this picture by Utal from Portugal. I love the combination of sunshine, sea and shiny GG. The sea looks so inviting and enjoying a nice vape in the sunshine with that view must be wonderful.

Back online at last!

After the failure of my computer equipment I have managed to get a new PC and get back online. It seems I have a lot of catching up to do but I'm confident normal service will be resumed shortly.

For now here is a video by Imeo where he goes into a lot of detail on the functions of Proteus. To me the operation seems fairly simple, Imeo demonstrates how easy it is to adjust settings whilst using Proteus. I am more impressed with Proteus each time I see it.

Proteus and Esterigon Revealed

Firstly let me offer my apologies for the lack of posts recently. My PC has died, hard drive and power unit gone, so I have found it very hard to get online. Having said that if the news of the two new GG's on the way is old news to you, please forgive me.

So Imeo has at last posted some videos showing a better view of the upcoming Proteus and Esterigon. The videos can be seen on his channel here. As usual Imeo has outdone himself and created some innovative and unique creations. In the Youtube videos Imeo explains in detail all the modifications he has made with both designs. Proteus looks like it was worth the wait. Every little detail has been very carefully planned and thought out. The electronic part of it looks very simple to use and Imeo has somehow managed to make it small enough to not affect the overall look.

Esterigon is also a very cool looking GG. The locking system is great and the small button, situated at the top end, seems like a breeze to use. I have to admit I would love to have seen a bottom button as an option but I do agree with Imeo in regards to the practical issues involved with bottom button placement.

The fact that Esterigon is the same diameter as the Iatty will please a lot of users. Imeo does show in the videos that Esterigon is able to power Oddy and Ithaka too without looking out of place. I imagine the multitude of other tanks out there will look fine too.

Without a doubt these will both be very popular and maybe the start of a slightly different direction for the GG. I didn't think I would see Imeo try to produce an electronic e-cig such as the Proteus but he has delivered on his promises and made something very special. The exciting thing is Imeo seems to have something better up his sleeve and that's why I love the GG.

Another GG on the way.

I have been away from the GG Forum on ECF for a while so I've had a lot of catching up to do. I completely missed the introduction of the one piece 18650 tube. It's a very nice addition that looks like an oversized GGTB when in use, visually stunning. A perfect piece for those of you who like clean lines on your GG's.

One thing I noticed the last time I was on ECF was that Imeo had hinted at a new GG project. Looking for more information I have found these recent comments that give a glimpse at what Imeo has been up to. I've edited them together for clarity.

"I was working hard day and night on new GG mech. It turned out a piece of art. I love it. I hope soon I will be able to make a video to impress you!

I only need a spring, and to make button a little longer. I also missing an o-ring for the body. So I believe that in 10 days I will be able to have those parts to upload a video.

A new battery holder. Its a design that I always wanted to make but I didnt want to make something NOT compatible with GGTS, thats why I made justGG. But this time I felt free to make something totally different.

I dont know what exists in the market but what you will see is totally my design. Locking mechanism is totally different, button it totally different, no need to adjust anything because its self adjustable, new ways to increase conductivity to maximum, new spring applications that dont exist anywhere in the world in any device maybe, a little different air control, easy to clean contacts, and..........very user friendly as always." - Imeo

I have no idea what it could be but I'm sure it will be popular, whatever it is. There have been various guesses floating around, the man with the answers remains as cryptic as ever though. One thing is for sure, Imeo shows no signs of slowing up in his mission to satisfy every vaper.

Pic of the Month February 2014

There were a lot of very good photo's posted in February over on the ECF GG Picture Thread. From high quality pictures to awesome collections, it was a good month for GG eye candy. I really enjoy going through the pictures and feeling that little bit of envy at what others have in their collections.

The picture I have chosen though is neither professional nor overloaded with GG's. The winner for February is mitergreen with this solid little combo. I am including the comment posted with the picture as I found it sums up the photo perfectly and it made me laugh.

When you see a ton of perfectly polished and displayed GG's it's easy to forget the actual purpose of them, that is to be used. There is no doubt GG's are constructed to a high quality and with his picture mitergreen reminds us of the durability of GG's too.

Penelope V3 - First impressions.

I received some Vape-mail today which I had no idea was coming so it was a very pleasant surprise. What was delivered is what you see below, the Penelope V3. I am a big fan of the original Penelope V1 and the V2. I still use mine now and then, especially on my Stealth for short trips out. It is a great little atomizer that can compete with the best. Here's my quick rundown on the V3.

Changes

The Penelope V3 has been given an update along the same lines as the Ithaka upgrade. The internal connections are now the same as the Ithaka upgrade, allowing coil building without the need for no res wire. As with the V2 before it, the GG wings are now on the base rather than on the main tube of the tank, on the opposite side of the wings is the serial number. I think the plain tube looks really nice, the more subtle logo is much cooler.

Apart from the internals the design is very similar to the Penelope V1. This makes a lot of the parts compatible, therefore giving you more spares if you ever need them.

There are a few changes with the connection. It features a shorter, adjustable positive pin and air flow holes.

The connection for the coil wire is the same as Ithaka design. The housing has a slightly larger cutout for wick/cotton. I've been using cotton for a while now and I can see those cutouts helping to keep the cotton wet.

 Building a coil is very simple and takes a lot less time. Another big advantage for me is I can use the Dripper part from my Oddy to make a rebuildable dripper that is around the same size as a AA battery.

Conclusion

Overall I think this is one of the coolest Golden Greek tanks Imeo has made. The Penelope is now even better than it was. I love the small size, ease of use and the stylish look of it. If you get the chance to buy one I'd say it would be a good investment. 

The Penelope V3 is a fantastic bit of kit, it's simple as that.
