160GEAR - New Shop

Along with Golden Greek products one of my other big loves is art and design so I have decided to put my skills to use and have started an online shop. I will be designing Vape related gear, adding more products as time goes on. For now I just have a couple of items.

I am hoping to grow this idea into something great, it's something I've always wanted to do. If you have a spare minute I'd really appreciate it if you could check the shop out. You can click the image above or the following link.

Instagram

I have signed up for Instagram to post a few pictures for anyone interested. The link is at the top of the page. I plan on taking a picture every day if possible, just for something to do when I run out of things to say.

Here's today's picture. I have been trying out different builds to try and make a cool looking GG. I really like the monster drip tip on this. Sadly it's not a working build. The air holes on the Igo are too small to make this practical. I had bought the Igo for my wife to use but she hasn't even touched it so I might drill out the air holes when I get hold of a drill.

GG RDA

Before you get too excited this is just another of my GG wishes. There is no GG RDA at the moment but I think there should be. It is possible to drip on all of the GG tanks but a proper dripping atty has not surfaced yet. There are quite a few RDA's on the market now and it seems dripping is very popular with all types of users.

The last time I dripped regularly was when I used low resistance 901's on my GGTB. Dripping is a great way of getting good flavour and nice clouds as well as a good way of jumping from one juice to another. A GG RDA could follow current design trends like in the example above. With the new rebuildable parts it is possible to make a great coil but they're not really designed as drippers. A more traditional coil deck would increase user options, allowing for some of the more weird and wonderful coil designs. Even changing to the more common phillips screw type would be a huge help.

Another possibility is for Imeo to have negative posts that are milled in to the design such as the one below. This helps with conductivity and makes for a more solid construction. There is also the possibility of Imeo completely reworking the RDA design and applying his special touch to it. I'm sure Imeo could come up with a dripper to rival anything available right now.

At the end of the day though I know a dripper isn't really on Imeo's radar and this will probably be a dream that never comes true, but it's always nice to dream. I just wish I could make a decent dual coil set up, something I find very difficult with my current GG options.

One last thing, Imeo has said that he has his machines working on another project and that he will show everyone in a video, possibly next week. I don't think he would make a video for an existing product so it has to be something new in my opinion. So keep an eye out for something new soon, it might be a GG Christmas after all.

Proteus delayed

Just some quick news for those that haven't heard. Imeo has a problem with one of his machines that he is using to assemble Proteus. The machine needs to be fixed before he can continue any work on Proteus.

Unfortunately this means there will be a delay with the release of Proteus, now due sometime after the new year. While this is bad news for those waiting for Proteus at the very least it means Proteus will eventually be made correctly.

This may be a blessing in disguise, as others have pointed out, Christmas post is unreliable at best. Hopefully the faulty machine is up and running soon bringing us one step closer to seeing a Proteus for sale. As many people already know, technology moves fast, I would hate to see too many delays, rendering Proteus redundant before it's even released.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and my eyes open for any more developments.

Pic Of the Month November 2014

This months winner is the appropriately named RiverNut with this fantastic outdoor picture. The  GGTB Woodie looks totally at home in it's surroundings. I wish I had this sort of scenery close to where I live, I love the great outdoors and it doesn't get much better than this picture.

Well done River for a great GG and an awesome photo, I am officially jealous!

Bitter-sweet News

Some happy and sad news to start with. If there is any doubt that ecigs are a valuable aid in breaking away from tobacco use, forum user, D Stanley Querfurth's story should serve as a good example of what can be achieved. Here's an edited quote from Stan.

I started with 18mg nicotine and a ego t ...
it took me a few month to get to GG,
but when I began to rebuild my atomisers I also began to mix my own liquid.
I reduced the nicotine level every time I had to mix new liquid..
Today I am off any nicotine, and after a while
I stopped vaping too..

Stan has been a valued member of the GG forum, posting great pictures of his weird and wonderful set ups as well as offering advice on the compatibility of old and newer GG parts. I'm really happy for Stan that he has been able to reach this goal but I'll miss seeing his posts and pictures.

Proteus

Imeo has stated Proteus will be ready before Christmas. At the time of writing this gives us around 4 weeks to go. It's not too long before people will be able to own their own piece of the latest GG technology. To recap and for anyone new to Proteus here is my huge list of collected information:

  • Proteus will be 100mm in length and 17mm total width
  • It will take a 14500 battery
  • Proteus will be the first 14500 tube battery holder with electronics to keep the voltage steady, something that those batteries need
  • It will be first battery holder mod with removable electronics on it
  • It will have a venting cap for safety just like the GGTS
  • The tube will be engraved with a deep engraving, (My guess is wings and serial number)
  • No springs anywhere inside Proteus (battery or button). Springs are what cause all the problems in any kind of electrical devices
  • Adjustable front cap so battery will always make contact even without a spring
  • AD control (like GGTS)
  • Separate electronic button unit seperate from the main tube, that can be swapped out if electronics fail.
  • The button has the following functions:

                         lock-unlock option
protection if we put battery in the wrong way
                         short cirquit protection
boost voltage from 3 to 7,4 volts
cut current if button gets pressed more than 14 seconds
                         flat SS button

Pre-production Golden Greek Proteus
Early pre-production Proteus

  • Atomizer detection
  • Working atomizer check
  • Battery check
  • On/Off Mode
  • 18 seconds cutoff
  • Short circuit protection
  • Reverse battery protection
  • Over-discharge battery protection
  • Thermal monitoring
  • Atomizer doesn't work at all when you go from one menu to another, something that saves battery and doesn't annoy the user
  • Watt range: 5-25 with 1 battery and 5-35 with 2 batteries increased by 1 watt per push of the button (please operate Proteus up to 15 watts)
  • You know when you reach the lowest and the upper limit of watts
  • It works with 1 battery 3,7 volt, with 2x3,7 volt batteries and with 2x3 volt batteries
  • Remembers your last set up
  • 8,3 ampere upper limit and 400 mA lowest limit
  • 8 volts upper limit and 0,5 volt lowest limit
  • Resistance range: 0,4-12,5 ohms
  • The smallest and thinnest electronic part today
  • It goes on and off its tube like a mobile card
  • Totally mechanical button. There is no electronic button on the pcba
  • Button comes off for cleaning without any effort. Just grab it with your nails and put it out
  • Five colour led
  • It was VV/VW mode. I left only VW mode and I added 1 more secret feature. Ι will let you know about it when time comes.

There is a pre-order list for Proteus where you can claim a serial number. You can see the list of available serials at the link below.

Available Serial Numbers List

Imeo has also said that sometime soon he will ask that people on the list prepay, to allow them time to confirm their number and pay for it. For anyone wanting more information about Proteus you can get to the Official thread below.

GG Contest

Finally a reminder to all that every month Imeo gives people a chance to win a GG item in a contest. There should be a new GG contest starting early in December so keep an eye on the forum for your chance to win.
