Shiny?

When I first started vaping I was using a look-a-like, cheap piece of kit that I bought on the internet. It worked but looking back I can see how inferior it was compared to all the other stuff that is available.

At the very least my first e-cig sparked my interest in vaping, which is a good thing. And as I researched more I found that there are a huge number of different e-cigs and mods available. Among them it seemed that the GGTS was one of the most desirable.

I can remember spending a lot of time looking at GG pictures and wishing I had one. I also remember at the time, that nearly all the pictures I saw of GG's showed them in a highly polished, shiny state. It seems perfectly understandable. The GG is a prized possession and anyone owning one would naturally keep it in tip top condition.

However, I have a confession. Apart from the occasional strip down and clean, I do not polish my GG's. Ever.

When I first got them I did, but I've come to love the used look of them. All the little nicks and scuffs are not blemishes, to me they are proof of how much I love and use my GG's. I take my GGTS everywhere. It's the first thing I look for in the morning and at night it's the last thing I worry about.

I guess what I'm trying to say with this post is that although my GG collection is not as shiny as others I have seen, it doesn't mean I love them any less. It might affect their resale value but that doesn't worry me as I'd never sell them anyway.

GGTB's by Torqueguy

The first GG I bought was a brass GGTB. I still have it and I still love it. Admittedly the brass is not as shiny as it could be but it is a thing of beauty in my eyes. Also the GGTB just works. It's a very simple construction and the telescoping battery section is a clever idea.

However I sometimes feel the GGTB is overlooked, which is understandable with the bigger range of options with the GGTS. One person who has made the GGTB sexy again is Torqueguy from the GG forum.

He creates beautiful veneer coverings for the tube part which look fantastic. The combination of metal with wood works really well, no doubt inspired by Torque's love of guns.

Ithaka

I've been away from the GG forum for a bit and just checked back in and found the thread regarding the next rebuild-able atomiser from Imeo, the Ithaka. It was a nice surprise to see Imeo has been his usual busy self.

I had a quick skim through the thread but what interested me most was the video Imeo has made explaining his new creation. One thing that stands out in the video, apart from the Ithaka, is how many times Imeo says, "you asked for....."

It shows that as well as pushing the development of his rebuild-ables, Imeo has also taken into account all of the user requests. Anyway I'll post the video below, see for yourself.

Kir Fanis Windows

There are many ways people can modify, customise and improve their GG's. Some of the methods I've seen are engraving, gold plating, media blasting, taping and good old fashioned polishing.

Modification also extends to the new range of tanks (Oddy & Penelope) too. One of the best looking mods I've seen is the addition of clear windows, made by forum member Kir Fanis.

He makes windows to fit all of the GG tanks so far. As well as being looking very nice, they are practical too in that the juice level is visible, making it easier to tell when you need to top up.

To get hold of one of these windows it seems the best way is to send a PM to Kir on ECF. Money well spent, I'd say.

Penelope

Recently I was lucky enough to receive a Penelope, courtesy of Imeo and Golden Greek Uk. I am also fortunate enough to own an Oddyseus and was wondering how the two would compare.

I am a big fan of the Oddy because of the design, the ease of use and the cost savings involved in using a rebuild-able. So being already familiar with the Oddy I knew the Penelope would be good before I'd even tried it.

Setting it up is very simple and everything fits together perfectly. I really like the slimmer mouthpiece with it's little bit of extra length. The engraved wings look great too. With the Penelope being a much smaller creation than the Oddy I can see it sitting nicely on any mod.

Overall I think the thing I like most about the Penelope is the fact that it shows how Imeo is always looking to progress with his inventions. He could have quite easily stuck with earlier versions but that is not his way. The GG rebuild-able has come a long way since the iAtty and I'm sure it will only get better.

Welcome to GG160

When I started the My Golden Greek picture site I decided that it was to be pictures only. The idea was to collect all the pictures posted on the ECF GG sub forum and have them all in one place. No chat, just a visual representation of the Golden Greek that could be enjoyed by all.

Having said that there have been many times when I've seen something I'd like to write about and felt tied to my original commitment to keep My Golden Greek a picture only site. What I have decided to do is start this blog, a side project where I can bring up interesting articles, news and information related to The Golden Greek.

I hope to make it an interesting and useful blog for all GG owners and those interested in buying their own GG.
