Vapegear - a good UK supplier

I normally use 18650 batteries. I get a full day or two on one charge and coupled with any one of my tanks this means I don't have to worry about charging or refilling. It's a formula I don't stray too far from. However I recently had to purchase an 18500 battery for Esterigon as I don't have the tubes for the 18650 fitting.

After a quick look online I chose Vapegear - a UK supplier, that had the right batteries and ordered one, pictured above is the one I bought. The battery arrived next day, less than 24 hours after I'd ordered it, all cool so far. Sadly when I tried the battery it had no charge at all, a quick test with the multi meter showed it was totally dead. I contacted Vapegear straight away and was emailed by Keef soon afterwards with an apology and instructions to send it back stating if I wanted a refund or replacement.

Today I planned to go down to the Post Office and return the battery after lunch. I couldn't go this morning because I had to wait for a delivery from my son, a late Father's day present. When the Post came I was surprised to find a package from Vapegear. Obviously they had decided just to send out a replacement, probably due to me taking too long to get back to them, I tend to procrastinate too much.

So I now have a working 18500 battery, charging as I type, ready for Esterigon.

The reason I'm telling you all this is that good customer service is a huge plus in my book. I believe in spreading the word when I think someone has done a good job and Kirsty and Keef at Vapegear certainly have. From the quick delivery, replacement, emails and even the nice hand written notes from Kirsty on the invoice, I have found Vapegear to be very easy to order from and to deal with.

If you are in the UK and are looking for ecigs and accessories I can highly recommend Vapegear. An ecig store that does customer service right, for which I am very thankful.

Esterigon - Perfection

Yesterday I received a package from Imeo and Vassilis containing the brand new Golden Greek, Esterigon. I have seen pictures and videos of Esterigon, so I wasn't expecting the construction to be anything too different from what I'm used to with the JustGG, Ithaka, etc. However I am totally blown away at how well put together Esterigon is. The design from top to bottom is clean and tidy. Nothing is added that shouldn't be there, Esterigon has been designed and machined to perfection.

The first thing that strikes you is the size. Compare it to the JustGG below. I am very used to handling my JustGG and GGTS's so the size of a GG isn't really an issue I'd thought about. But Esterigon really feels perfect in your hand. Small but still with a nice weight and feeling of real quality, comfortable too. You immediately realise why Imeo has chosen to design a smaller unit. It makes sense to go smaller, especially when he can do it with no drop in quality or performance.

From top to bottom Esterigon is a truly beautiful mod. The size will appeal to anyone who wants a less conspicuous mod and still have something more substantial than regular e-cigarettes/mods. At the moment Esterigon is slightly top heavy with anything Ody/Ithaka sized but is perfect with any version of Penelope or similar sized tank.

The new small button is very easy to push with any finger and it's position is easily reachable, whatever way you hold Esterigon. The locking mechanism is flawless, easy to operate and a welcome feature for 'pocket vapers' like me! I especially like the air control ring that works without adding any length to Esterigon.

The only thing I would change on Esterigon would be to have a small wings logo on the opposite side to the button instead of just the 'GG' on the side. This is a minor quibble though and not something that makes any real difference, the quality of every part far outweighs any cosmetic complaints.

Esterigon is a positive step forward for Golden Greek, a perfect bridge between JustGG and the upcoming Proteus. Imeo did say this would be the last mechanical mod he makes and if that's true, Esterigon is the perfect mod to end that chapter of GG history.

I love everything Imeo makes and make no secret of that fact. But with my hand on my heart I swear this is the most refined, beautiful and exciting GG I have seen from Imeo so far. Not bad for something that started as a side project during development of Proteus.

Esterigon goes on sale tomorrow, the sellers links are below. Buy one! You won't regret it.

A huge, huge thank you to Imeo and Vassilis without whom I could not have brought you this review.

Video Review

Larger than life ECF user, Bishopheals, was lucky enough to get an early release model of Esterigon to review. He goes through the whole process of assembly so it's a thread worth bookmarking. I will post the link to his thread rather than the video.

GG Esterigon review

Proteus - a work in progress

I have been going through the Official Proteus Thread on ECF to get the latest scoop on the next big thing in vaping. On the 26th of May Imeo posted the following information in regards to the progress on Proteus.

"I received the spare electronic parts one week ago and I am making some new quick experiments with them. In about 1 more week I will take the whole sample in my hands and start vaping it. I need at least 1 week to test it. If all are ok then I am ordering the big batch of electronic parts and start assembling.

The bad thing is that I always have an issue while testing electronic parts. A very simple issue but its still an issue for me. I want to make it perfect. I am really sorry for the waiting but I want to make a flawless electronic part."

From this we can see that things are still progressing but by the sounds of it Imeo still has some tweaking and perfecting to do. Releasing a product that is not perfect is not Imeo's style, even if it means longer waiting times for GG fans. I don't think there has ever been a GG item that wasn't worth the wait though.

GG Battery?

My idea of what a GG battery might look like

In other news check out this recent question posted by JeffvapesGG on ECF,

"I generally like to vape around 20-30 ... Would the 2 batteries be about the same size as a 14500 single battery. What two batteries would we use for 30 watts?"

Imeo replied,

"2x14250 Jeff. I am working on those batteries as we speak. I am talking with several factories to make me a battery, 14250 that can release at least 2 amperes each."

Can we take this to mean Imeo is having custom GG batteries made? As with all things in development, this may or may not get produced. If these did get made it would be cool to have some GG batteries, complete with wings, getting us one step closer to a 100% GG mod. Obviously if I find out anything more I'll let you know.

Pic of the Month May 2014

Although there were a lot of outstanding photo's posted in the GG Picture thread for May I had no trouble picking a winner. The picture is very well taken but it is the content that really impressed me.

As you can see, long time GG user Cappy owns some prime examples of GG and vaping history and has kept them looking in perfect condition. The buttons alone are highly sought after so having a set like this is truly cause for envy.

I became interested in GG's at around the time Imeo was working on the first run of GGTS's in Stainless Steel. I had seen a lot of pictures of older models but the design had moved on by the time of my first GG purchase. As is Imeo's way he is always moving forward, never content to sit still for too long. Therefore you will only find these older GG's in the hands of lucky collectors now.

Well done Cappy, great picture and a great collection.
