Picture Of The Month August 2014

This month I have chosen this simple Esterigon/Tilemahos pair as my top picture. In my opinion, probably the number one e-cig combo in the world right now. The reason for choosing this picture is to mark and celebrate the release of these two GG products, both of which have been selling really well.

There is not much more I can say about the picture but that is what I like about it. It is just two GG's, pure and simple. So, well done to Patricko for having a great couple of GG's and for taking the time to photo them.

Proteus, VIR & GG Parts - Latest Information

Now that Esterigon and Tilemahos have made their appearances, the two releases most GG fans are most looking forward to are Proteus along with VIR. With Proteus the complexity of the design and build, software requirements and Imeo's desire for perfection has meant a longer time to bring it to market. VIR remains as mysterious as ever, no-one really knows anything about it. It's often talked about but Imeo is keeping the details of VIR secret now.

For the official word on Proteus and VIR I have collected together these quotes from Imeo, all made within the last few days.

In recent Golden Greek products design and build quality have increased dramatically, while at the same time keeping the core essence of a GG. So, when Imeo says the things above, I am willing to bet that Proteus and the mysterious VIR are going to be real game changers, keeping Golden Greek at the top of the vaping world.

We might not be any nearer to a release but we at least know something fantastic is coming.

Upcoming preorder

I had listed a lot of information here about the coming preorder but it seems that it is out of date now. There will be a preorder soon but Imeo is trying to figure out the best way to do it. I think he is trying to find a way to keep everyone happy and I know that is a hard thing to do.

The best way of keeping up with how the preorder will work is to watch this thread on ecf.

Rebuildables - Have you made the switch?

For many months now I have used only GG rebuildable atomisers for vaping. I use Penelope, Oddy and Ithaka mainly and have never had any problems with switching full time to making my own coils. It's been so long since I used a store bought atomiser they are a distant memory now.

I have enough supplies in my little vape box to last a very long time, all I ever buy is juice. I have a couple of reels of wire and enough wick and cotton wick to last me well into next year. These supplies cost very little, maybe about £10. The savings I've made through not buying atomisers and carto's is a huge plus for me. I have very little disposable income so any money saved is greatly appreciated.

The amount of wire and wick needed for a coil is tiny. If I wanted to make even more savings I could recycle the coil by cleaning and rewicking. I tend to just redo the whole thing, as a new coil is so cheap I don't feel the need to keep old coils.

Another great thing about GG atomisers is their robustness. The constructions are simple, solid and very forgiving. It is very easy to make a usable coil quickly on any of the GG rebuildables. The new internals are the biggest time saver, 2 screws and you're done although I know there are still a few people that prefer the NR-R-NR wire set up.

Overall I can say that moving to using only GG rebuildables has been a life changer for me. I can easily get a good few days out of each coil, couple this with a big battery and you have worry free vaping. I don't fret about the latest carto's, tanks, etc. I am perfectly happy with what I have. So far I haven't seen anything elsewhere that could tempt me away from what I currently use.

I recommend going GG only, even if just to save a few pennies, you won't regret it.

Tilemahos - 2nd batch and GG pre-sales

The sale of Tilemahos looks to have gone really well. Fluid Vaper and e-smokeguru both have it listed as out of stock. I  do see Tilemahos available at Bitfumo but I can't say how accurate that is. 

Hopefully those after a Tilemahos were able to buy one, if not there is good news. A second batch should be ready in about 10 days according to a post by Vassilis from e-smokeguru. This should give people another shot at getting hold of the hottest new GG tank.

Also remember that there will be pre-orders for all other GG parts from e-smokeguru. This will start in two days time. I have no information yet on the other sellers but I will update this post if I find out any more regarding this.



IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Pre-orders have been pushed back about a month to give all sellers a chance to prepare. The good news is that they will remain open for about a month to give everyone a chance of getting their orders in.

GG Tilemahos - On sale now!

Just a quick post to say Tilemahos is now on sale at Fluid and Bitfumo by the looks of things. Both sites have it listed as in stock. I was under the impression it would be a simultaneous sale from all three dealers but it looks like the two sellers above have had a head start on e-smokeguru.

Tilemahos will be available within the next few hours on e-smokeguru and from what I can see there will be a choice of two bases, 510 or 510 with air control. I also see a choice of two finishes of matte or polished. Check the links in the dealers tab above for more details.

UPDATE

All three sellers have had Tilemahos available for sale. It looks like sales have gone well, I know for example, stock is down to around 20 Tilemahos left at e-smokeguru as I write this.

Also for anyone not convinced that they need the new GG atomiser, check out this video by the irrepressible Bishopheals. After seeing this there can be no doubt that the Tilemahos is more than capable of producing some very big clouds!

Vaping.com - ecf sister site

In case you, like me, are always the last to know about something, I'd like to point out that ecf now has a sister site - Vaping.com. It promises lots of interesting and relevant information for vapers so it''s definitely a site worth checking out.

I've had a quick peek at the site and there are some good articles on various subjects such as flavourings, scientific research, safety and a lot of stuff regarding vaping regulation. It looks like the site is tightly integrated with ecf so it's hard to see where the two sites separate, this didn't have any detrimental effect on finding information and articles though.

I really like the recent visual makeover of ecf, it has made using the GG forum a lot more enjoyable. Vaping.com has the same clean style too so another thumb up from me. There is a huge amount of reading to keep you occupied in between checking all your favourite sites, I highly recommend you take a look

Facebook Page - another way to keep updated

After all the tweaking I have done to this site I finally got round to creating a Facebook page for GG160. I know a lot of people don't use Google Plus so I figured it would be another option for people to stay updated. I plan on posting any new posts on Facebook as well as G+, they will be the same so you should only need to follow one.

I hope to get a few likes and some more interaction with people so don't be afraid to post. I'm also open to suggestions and requests for anything GG related, just get in touch any way you prefer. Remember I have G+, Twitter, Facebook and e-mail as contact options and I always like receiving your messages.

While I'm here I'll just remind you that Tilemahos should be available to buy this coming Monday -18th August at 18:00 Greek time. It should be available from all three sellers although I'm still not sure what base options will be for sale on the day. So have a good weekend but remember to keep a few pennies aside for Monday!

Free Downloads - GG up your desktop

In my spare time I like to get creative and make art and graphics. I recently made these images below to use as wallpaper on my PC. I thought it would be good to share them as there are very few GG wallpapers out there. When I get the time I plan on making a dedicated Download section for this type of stuff, for now there's a link at the bottom of this post.

The wings are the wings I designed for myself, obviously inspired by the official wings. The e-smokeguru wallpapers were just something I was playing around with.

A few new things for your convenience.

I decided to brighten the blog up a bit with a lighter blue. Sorry if you couldn't get on to the site earlier, I went offline for a bit while I hacked all the code together. I think everything is working again, let me know if not.

I have added a site map under the Info tab to help you find older posts, hopefully it will become more  useful as time goes on. Also with Proteus featuring sometime in the future, I have added an Ohms Law Calculator under Tools to help anyone who wants to work out Watts and Amps. There are instructions on how to use it on the page. I'm planning on adding more useful goodies as and when I find them.

I have to say a big thank you to Bill Bowden for the calculator, he kindly agreed to let me grab the code and use it here. If you are into electronics and that sort of stuff there is a huge amount of other projects available on his website.

Stay Battery Safe - A warning for everyone

Before I get started I have to hold my hands up and admit to having had an accident with a battery a while ago. I stripped the wrapping off of one trying to force it into a tube, resulting in a nice burn on my hand. Lesson learned, thankfully a very minor incident.

Unfortunately I read today of a much more serious case, the first reported death due (indirectly you could say) to e cigs. You can read more about it yourself here. This was allegedly due to another case of using the wrong charger. It's not the first time I've heard of an accident involving the wrong charger and this is the second time I've heard of an oxygen cylinder being involved. Obviously, however this was caused, a man lost his life and I find that very sad.

In case you don't know, some basic safety tips are -

• Always charge them with the correct charger
• Charge batteries in an appropriate place
• Never overcharge, if that's possible with your battery
• Know your limits if you are stacking batteries, discharge evenly
• Read the instructions that came with your battery and stick to them
• And so on.....

These are all really obvious and simple things we should all be doing. I'm quite sure I don't need to say this but please, please be careful when charging and using your batteries. Accidents do happen but they are preventable with a little bit of care.

I totally forgot (again) to do Pic of the Month for July. After going through all the pictures I've chosen this one by zuTma. I can't quite put my finger on what it is I like about the picture.

I really like the lighting and the composition is great too. Also the way the Esterigon catches the reflection of, er, .....the shiny..um..

Anyway, congratulations zuTma, a great picture and a very welcome change from the more conservative pictures we normally have.

TrueVaping - reviews by Karabas

There are a lot of Golden Greek reviews around the internet if you look but none are as detailed and thorough as the reviews by Karabas on his site, truevaping.ru Based in Kiev, Karabas has an excellent site dedicated to mods and vaping in general.

If you visit the site you can see all the Golden Greek reviews he's done so far, including JustGG, Ithaka, Penelope, etc. The site is Russian but Google Translate does a half decent job of translating. The amount of detail Karabas goes into for each review is fantastic and the photo's are really good too. The photos are zoomed in and very clear, letting you see parts of a GG that you could not normally see with the naked eye.

In all his reviews Karabas strips each item down into all it's component parts, with pictures from varying angles and describes them. I think reading reviews like this is the best way to appreciate how something is made and how it works. It's also useful for checking you have all the right parts for any GG stuff you own.

As well as Golden Greek mods he also reviews some other stuff too although I must admit I don't really follow other mods so I can't comment on them. It really is a great site though and worth a read if you want to learn more about GG products, or just to look at the pictures.

Tilemahos Dripper and release date

Imeo has recently posted a video showing how Tilemahos can be used as a dripper. I think this is in response to people asking for a dripper version of Tilemahos. But as you can see in the video, Tilemahos is small enough in size and more than capable of being used for dripping. The beauty of Tilemahos is that it can be used either way depending on your choice. Also any worries about the performance of Tilemahos can be forgotten after you witness the huge clouds Imeo produces in the video. 

Release Date

The release date has now been officially been confirmed as the 18th of August 2014. On the day of release Tilemahos will be available from all three GG sellers simultaneously so people everywhere will get their chance to grab the latest GG tank. I'm not sure what options will be available regarding bases for Tilemahos but I will find out and update this post. Be aware that Vassilis and the e-smokeguru team are taking a much needed break before the release, with the shop being closed from the 11th to the 17th of August.


One final bit of information, on the 20th of August, e-smokeguru will be taking pre-orders for 'almost all GG devices and parts'. Good news for those waiting for spares and the chance to buy full mods.

Then all we have left to look forward to is Proteus!
