Happy New Year!

Last post for this year. There have been a lot of high's for GG owners with some great releases from Imeo. I hope you were able to get your hands on whatever GG item you were after. If not I cross my fingers for you getting it next year.

I have just uploaded the last batch of pictures to My Golden Greek. The quality and quantity of photo's this year has been amazing. I am proud to be able to show them off to anyone who stumbles across the site, although the real credit goes to the user's that post their pictures every month.

Not much more to say, other than to thank Imeo for all he does. Without his innovative designs we would not have such shiny mods to play with. He is an outstanding individual and I am very thankful for the hard work and dedication he puts into his work. Thanks to all the suppliers for their hard work, they deserve a lot more credit than they get. Finally thanks to all GG owners and ecig users. Let's all have a great year in 2014!

All the best,

Lee

Ithaka Dripper and a sneak peek at the Proteus

Just a quick post before we reach the end of the year. Imeo has added a video to his Youtube showing the Ithaka as a dripper. He mentions making a new top/mouthpiece for the Ithaka which would be great as I'm sure a lot of people would like to use the new Ithaka centre parts in drip mode.

What makes this video even more exciting is the device Imeo is using to test the Ithaka on. You can see it at the side of the screen at the start of the video. Later on you will notice the red warning light flashing before Imeo changes the battery. He is very good at keeping it hidden in his hands as he uses it, some top class magician skills there!

This is a great little video for GG users to get excited about. It won't be too long before Proteus is revealed and with the new Ithaka update making more possibilities in terms of vaping, there is a lot to look forward to in the coming year.

GG Proteus - the wait is nearly over

"If you eliminate the voltage problem that small batteries have keeping them steady then there is no problem vaping at 3,6 volts. The bad thing with smaller batteries is the voltage drop, we will not have this now." - Imeo

This is a quote from Imeo on probably the most anticipated Golden Greek mod at the moment, the Variable Voltage Proteus. Imeo still has the mod under wraps and so far the only sighting of it has been a picture I've posted before, said to be a prototype, on the GG wiki. Understandably Imeo is reluctant to release too much information about Proteus before he has it ready for sale. There are some details that can be discovered in various threads although I would not take these as 100% accurate, as there is always a chance things could change in the final design.

So, what do we know so far? The following is an edited list of points made by Imeo in regard to the new GG.

  • Proteus will be 100mm in length and 17mm total width
  • It will take a 14500 battery
  • Proteus will be the first 14500 tube battery holder with electronics to keep the voltage steady, something that those batteries need
  • It will be first battery holder mod with removable electronics on it
  • It will have a venting cap for safety just like the GGTS
  • The tube will be engraved with a deep engraving, (My guess is wings and serial number)
  • No springs anywhere inside Proteus (battery or button). Springs are what cause all the problems in any kind of electrical devices
  • Adjustable front cap so battery will always make contact even without a spring
  • AD control (like GGTS)
  • Separate electronic button unit seperate from the main tube, that can be swapped out if electronics fail.
  • The button has the following functions:

                        lock-unlock option
protection if we put battery in the wrong way
                        short cirquit protection
boost voltage from 3 to 7,4 volts
cut current if button gets pressed more than 14 seconds
                        flat SS button

From the list we can see that the Proteus will be loaded with features and will receive the high level of attention Imeo gives to all his inventions. I'm pretty sure the main body of the Proteus won't have too many surprises, it's the electronic part most people are interested in.

There are plenty of VV mods in the market now but it will be interesting to see Imeo's unique take on things. Also there are a lot of GG owners using a Kick to vary performance of their mods, so maybe a home grown variable volt GG product could be a springboard to a GGTS/JustGG type add on for VV vaping.

When can we expect the Proteus to be available? Without doubt this is going to be a very popular item bringing GG back in line with current vaping trends. No firm date for release has been given so far but I'd like to finish this article with another quote by Imeo. He posted this yesterday on ECF.

"Soon they will find a great home Its (GG forum member). Proteus experiments come to an end. I hope that in about less than 10 days I will be able to show you something very very special. No other electronic device is made like this." - Imeo

Pic of the Month December

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL THE GG FAMILY

An easy and early pick this month for Picture of the Month. I knew this would be the one as soon as I saw it. The winning photo is by CaptSteve, a very knowledgeable and much appreciated member on the GG forum. He is always around to offer advice, encouragement and general good banter. From my dealings with the Captain I can say he is a totally great guy and a true GG aficionado. As a side note  being a pilot, I suspect he is probably one of the only people on the planet who has enjoyed a decent vape with a GG while airborne.

Well done CaptSteve, this is a really nice picture, showing two of the newest additions to the GG line. Also check out the 0001 serial number on that JustGG, pretty sweet. I've added the Captain's original message to the bottom of the photo, with the same best wishes from me to all GG owners, Past, Present and Future!

UFS Lives Again!

One of the reasons I use only GG items is the total faith I have in each piece. I know if I have a problem there is usually an easy fix or I can get help from the more experienced members on the ECF forum. Failing that I could get back to the sellers or even Imeo himself. Imeo goes to great lengths to provide excellent customer service to all GG owners, new and old.

So despite having some other e-cig hardware tucked away in drawers, I do only use GG products now. I can't even remember the last time I bought a carto or an atomiser. A while back I found the perfect set up for me, with my Odysseus. I make up a single coil at about 1ohm and that suits me fine, normally lasting a few days before the coil needs changing.

I'm not really over obsessed when it comes to making coils. If it vapes, it'll do. I am slightly jealous of some of the amazing set-ups I see people putting together but my skill or equipment hasn't let me replicate those builds so far. Anyway during any cleaning or rebuilding of my Oddy I like to use my Penelope (edit-and now V2 too) or Ithaka.

I also have a UFS that I would love to keep in use too but I damaged the bottom cup somehow and now it wont tighten any more. I had an alert on e-smokeguru set to notify me when that particular part was in stock again. Last week I got that notification so I quickly went online and put my order in. After struggling with getting the payment to go through I had to drop Vassilis an email, to which he replied with an alternative payment option. The rest of the process went smoothly with all the other regular confirmation and receipt emails, followed a few days after with tracking details.

Tracking information showing every step along the way.

I am always super impressed with the service I get from e-smokeguru and highly recommend them for your GG stuff. Make sure you use the 'Notify Me' buttons for items not in stock, it really saves time and stress when looking for something in particular.

As I'm writing this my package is on it's way to me and my UFS is sitting here in pieces, ready for assembly. So I am off to set up my UFS for the first time in months, it seems like much longer. There is nothing like hitting that perfect sweet spot with a finely tuned UFS, the only thing is, I'll have to buy some atomisers again.

*Last minute update!

My package arrived as I was leaving the house so the UFS is whole again. I need to see if I have any old 510 atomisers anywhere but I'm just glad to see it all in one piece again. On the left in the picture you can just about see where I messed up my threads trying to fix the bottom cup.

Also I received the Ithaka update which looks superb, lot's of GG experimenting going on tonight I think!

Coming Soon

Ithaka Update

It has been a very good year for Golden Greek owners with the release of JustGG and Penelope V2 being two of the highlights. Imeo manages to keep interest and demand high for everything he develops despite the growing number of other mods available. I am always pleasantly surprised with the way Imeo can invent or re-invent a product, JustGG is a good example of this.

Despite the fairly recent release of his last creations Imeo shows no sign of slowing down and has more aces up his sleeve. The first is something I have been secretly hoping for, the Ithaka update. It will enable coil making in a much simpler way, doing away with the need for NR wire. Check out this video to see what I mean.

I think this new part will be very popular and will help save time and money for those making their own coils. Although it looks like a complicated set up remember once it is assembled you will only need to re-coil when required, not do a full build of the part.

Proteus

Another release that is building anticipation is the new variable voltage Proteus. I have not really tried VV vaping myself apart from stacking batteries and using a pass-thru but I understand that there are a huge number of VV fans out there. The inclusion of the Proteus into the GG line will mean there is a GG for just about all vapers.

As usual Proteus will have a serial number for which there is a thread on ECF for those wanting to register a particular number. I'm not sure when the Proteus will be released but it is not too far away now. There is not a lot of information available for Proteus which is understandable with the cloning situation but there is this one picture from the wiki.

Proteus prototype with Penelope

I think it looks pretty nice with that Penelope and the idea of being able to dial in your perfect set up seems too good to miss. I really can't wait to see the final version and see what users have to say about it.

The only question now is what next? Imeo always finds some way of surprising everyone so I'm sure whatever comes next will be great. In the meantime we have some exciting new additions to look forward to.

Useful links for New GG users.

I was thinking about web sites I visit and thought it might be a good idea to list a few of the sites I use for anyone who has just got a GG or is interested in buying one. The following links are where you can find Golden Greek products, information, general supplies, etc.

Buying Golden Greek products

In my opinion the best place to get genuine GG products is from the official sellers. If the item you want is not in stock all the sellers sites have a 'Notify me' button. When a new item is released there is normally a pre-order where you can secure that item before the general sale starts.

The next three links are for the Official Sellers and are the first places you should look when searching for a GG product.

Clouds Of Vapor  Based in the USA No longer a GG supplier

FluidVapor Based in the USA

e-smokeguru Based in Greece

Bitfumo  Based in Italy

If you are after something a bit more individual there are often some GG's for sale at the unofficial Vaperev. As well as the normal GG's Vaperev sell some custom GG's. These are GG's that have been decorated by master engraver Otto Carter. I have written more about Otto HERE. Be warned the prices for the engraved GG's reflect the exclusivity and craftmanship!

The final option would be to search forum classifieds but beware of possible stings and over inflated prices.

Supplies

I use GG rebuildables probably 95% of the time so next up are a few sites I use for wire and wick. The increasing interest in rebuildable atomisers means you can find supplies nearly everywhere now.  Lots of e-cig shops sell pre made coils and reels of wire and wick but it can be more cost effective to buy in larger amounts.

A quick Google search should return plenty of vendors selling all you'll need but these two companies are the one's I use.

wires.co.uk

The Vape Mesh Company

I have used both of these sites and have found each one very reliable and their products of excellent quality.

I won't list e-liquid suppliers as there are too many to choose from, although I will say that I tend to go for 100ml bottles as it works out cheaper in the long run.

Information

The next few links are all places to discover more about the Golden Greek.

GG e-cig - Official GG site.

GG wiki - The number one resource for information on all GG products.

Imeo Thanasis channel on Youtube - Frequent videos of new and existing GG products.

GG sub forum on ECF - The best place to get answers from Imeo and other users to any GG question.

Golden Greek Freaks  - Facebook group for all GG owners and fans.

Then there is my photo blog My Golden Greek that consists purely of pictures, a visual record of pictures posted in the pictures thread on ECF.

And  finally the Google plus page. I upload pictures here that can be viewed much easier than on the picture blog.

Pic of the Month November

As usual there were a lot of very good pictures posted this month. And as usual it was hard to pick one picture I thought stood out. In the end I chose this one from ManniGfaltig in Germany. I love the mix of metals and the contrast of old against the new.

Congrats Manni on a great picture and a nice couple of GG's.

Penelope V2

As anyone who has used a rebuild-able atomizer will tell you, they are a great way of tweaking things to your exact preferences. There are many ways of making a coil along with many types of material to make the coil with. An added bonus is that rebuild-able's  are very cheap to re-coil, supplies are readily available everywhere.

From the GG line there are three main contenders at the moment. The amazing Ithaka, the Odysseus (my personal favourite) and the Penelope. Of the three the Penelope is the smallest and lightest and seems just as popular with non-GG users as it it with regular GG users.

Penelope V1 with an Oddy and two Stealths for size comparison.

In much the same way as the JustGG is a progression and improvement on the GGTS the new Penelope V2 is an upgraded/improved version of the Penelope V1. There is a list HERE that shows the full list of changes from V1 to V2.

As usual there's a video from Imeo detailing his new creation. He explains each part in detail giving a full description of the modifications. You can see that video at the bottom of this post. From the video I think the best new features are the slots for grip on the base, the improved mouthpiece including the ability to use your own drip tips and the easier re-filling.

Slots in base for grip

Drip tip compatible mouthpiece

Easier re-filling

At the time of writing this I'm pretty sure the pre-order for these has come and gone. Once they are in the sellers hands each seller will have extras to sell, so you may still be able to pick one up. I predict that these will be very popular, even more so than V1. Nice work Imeo!

Pic of the Month October

It wasn't easy picking a picture for this month as there were so many great photo's posted but I did eventually manage to choose one. The winner this month is one of the reasons I was drawn to GG's when I first started vaping.

Dspin has always shown great care and attention when photographing his GG's. They are always well lit, well posed and of course always well shined. A true GG legend in my eyes and thoroughly deserving of this months #1 photo.

I love this photo, I think it shows how cool the Just GG is. This is the sort of picture that gives you that 'I want one' feeling.I don't have any short batteries to make mine this compact but I do use my Oddy on my JGG. A perfect combination.

Just GG

I had in mind to do a nice review of the Just GG that was released this month by Imeo. However while going through the Just GG thread I found this link to an amazing, in depth review by Vladislav Karabas.

The site is Russian but Google Translate does an adequate job of translating it. The review includes many clear pictures showing all the different parts of the Just GG. Click the link below to read the article.

truevaping

***EDIT***

I forgot to say, although I feel a full review is not needed as Vladislav did such a good job, I should say a couple of words of my own.

I have found the Just GG to be an incredible evolution of the GGTS. From top to bottom, every piece is amazing and when I got mine I was blown away with it. I have been using it with my Oddy and it is perfect. It seems to hit a lot more than when it's on the GGTS.

The picture above is my Just GG with Oddy. Combined with a bit of juice and an 18650 battery, this is all I need for a couple of days vaping. I can't thank Imeo and Vassilis enough.

Pic of the Month September

I am going to start a new feature here that will showcase the best picture from My Golden Greek for each month. I will be picking the picture I think is best but that doesn't mean it has to be the best photography. I don't care if you have a thousand dollar camera or take photos on your phone, if it features a GG it has a chance of getting picked.

There is no prize for winning, other than the satisfaction of having your picture featured. Maybe if I win the lottery I will find something to give away!

I will choose a new one every month starting from now.

The winner this month is the image below by m3iss3li. I have chosen this because it shows a side to the GG that is often over looked  amongst all the talk of resistances and set ups, etc. It shows how the GG is also a very beautiful mod, from this photo it is easy to see why people treasure them so much.

As I said above I will do this every month, post them in this thread for a chance at winning.

How to assemble the Just GG.

Here is a video by Imeo showing the complete process of putting the Just GG together.

As you can see it is easy to follow along, the whole set up taking around 10 minutes. As with the last few pieces in the GG line, the Just GG has parts that are interchangeable with the GGTS so there will be a number of combinations that can be achieved.

The Waiting Game

As I write this the shipments of Just GG's have been posted and are on the way to GG sellers, where they will be sorted and posted out to those lucky enough to have bought one. After a few minor delays during production I know this comes as good news to many.

From the brief glimpses I've seen so far, I am sure this is going to be a very good GG and maybe take the title of King of the GG line. The GGTS has had a good run, it's still hugely popular and is still very much in demand but it will be interesting to see how well the Just GG is received.

So far the Just GG is a limited run, after which there are lots of projects Imeo wants to get finished. When these are completed maybe Imeo will do another run, if there is enough demand.

Talking of GG projects, Imeo has revealed plans to stop development of Achilles. There were mixed responses to this news on the forums. I know it is not a choice Imeo made lightly and I hope one day he might re visit the idea. Personally I liked the idea of an all GG UFS.

The good news is that instead of Achilles, Imeo has been working on the new Penelope rebuildable and Proteus, for which there is already a huge list for those wanting specific serial numbers.

Exciting times ahead for GG users, starting now with the traditional stalking of the mailman/woman for Just GG. If you have one on the way I hope you don't have to wait too long!

Wick & Wire

Let me start this by saying the following post is all based on my personal views and opinions.

I recently had to buy some more wick and ordered from the Vape Mesh Company. I got a small sample pack to have a look at the different wicks and wires and I have to say I am very pleased.

Everything came neatly packed and looks to be very good quality. I am busy at the moment cleaning all of my rebuidables but I can tell these wicks are going to be the perfect size for Oddy, Ithaka, etc.

The company ships worldwide and I can speak from personal experience when I say the customer service is great.

Just GG Update - Engravings

Imeo has revealed a slightly changed look to the upcoming Just GG. This time it is the engravings that will be different.

As you can see in the pictures, the logo has been rotated and the reverse of the Just GG will be engraved with 'made by Imeo' and 'to my good friend.'

There has been mixed reaction to the engravings but I think they are fine. They are still a long way from the craftsmanship of Otto Carter but Imeo has hinted at the possibility of a GG with fully engraved tubes.

It will be interesting to see if the decorative side of the GG develops and if so, what Imeo comes up with.

Just GG revealed.

Imeo has just made a short video with a sneak peek at the finished version of Just GG. Imeo explains in the video that the adjustable air control ring has been made too loose, with the channels for the o-rings too big.

Unfortunately this will result in a small delay as he gets the problem fixed. On the plus side, it is great to see the Just GG all shined up, it looks fantastic. Check out the video for yourself.

After taking all the pre-sales into account, there will be a further 300 Just GG's for sale. So if you didn't catch the pre-sale keep an eye on the sellers sites for some Just GG's soon.

Otto Carter

A while back I posted a picture of a GGTS that had been customized with engravings. After a bit of hunting I found the company that had it made, Vaperev. The store is based in California and is very clearly a high end outlet for vaping products.

Looking at their site again I have noticed some more engraved GG's, this time GGTB's. There are two listed but only one available so it looks like one was sold. The price for the one remaining is $2000 which is obviously a lot more than the price for a standard GGTB.

The engraving though isn't just engraving, it is the work of artist Otto Carter. On his website you can see more examples of his engravings on everything from bottle openers to motorcycle parts. In the video here you can see Otto working on one of the GGTB's.

If I had the money to buy one I wouldn't think twice. I think Otto does stunning work and these are a thing of beauty.

E-smokeguru

I think it's safe to say that the majority of vapers make their purchases online. It's the way of the world now and just about everything can be sourced online, somewhere.

So it's nice to see  actual, physical stores available for people to get a better experience when shopping. This store in particular pleases me because it stocks Golden Greek products. Not only that, it is also a very cool, modern looking store too.

The store is E-smokeguru and is an official distributor of GG items.

The store and website are both run by Vassilis, who I think is the fine looking gentleman on the right. A very good looking store with some very desirable products. I must say the staff are easy on the eye too!

You can visit the store in Salamina, Greece to meet them all in person or visit the online store at the link below.

GGTB Woodies

I've posted before about the wood finishes Torqueguy at ECF dresses GGTB's in but wanted to add a little update to the story.

After the initial run of wood clad GGTB's another batch were made but this time Imeo sent some modified parts to accommodate the wood better. You can see in the picture below the difference.

You can see that the fit is a lot smoother but still the same high level of quality. I'm not sure if these are still being sold but I wanted to document them here for posterity. Here are a few more pictures showing these amazing mods. Great work Torqueguy!

Tubes ready for working on.

A few finished examples. Note the shortened GGTB on the right.

If you want to learn more you can find all this information here on Torqueguy's ECF thread.

Just GG by dspin

These are the pictures of Just GG by dspin on ECF. Keep in mind that this is one of the prototypes and was sent unpolished, so the finished versions will look a lot shinier. I think even in this rough form it is still a thing of beauty.

Just GG

The next big thing in the GG world will soon be making it's way into the hands of lucky people all over the world. The model is called 'Just GG' and is a totally revamped version of the GGTS. The video below explains all the relevant details and shows all the clever improvements Imeo has made.

At the moment, other than Imeo, there are only a few people who have a Just GG. I'm guessing these models are pre production and were sent out for Imeo to get some feedback before final production. One owner is Bishopheals and you can see his review below.

Another owner is 'Dspin' who has written a nice review here.

After studying the videos and reviews I am certain that the Just GG will be a big hit with GG fans. It has improved on just about every aspect of the GG without turning into something else. It is still a GG but a much improved one. I know this is going to be great and I'm really impressed with the visual and functional design. I can't wait to see one in the flesh!

Ithaka

I'm hoping to get a full review done for the Ithaka soon but I'm waiting until I have used it for a while to give it a good test.

First impressions are very good though, the machining is incredibly well done.

After all the commotion with people getting their Ithaka's I'm especially grateful to Imeo and Vassilis over at e-smoke guru for my Ithaka. If you are still waiting for yours I hope you get it soon, it's worth the wait.

GG phone set up

I like to customize my phone to look how I like it, so I was pleased to find a new launcher that enables me to create the screen you see below. It is in Beta at the moment but it already has a lot of cool features built in.

The app is called Buzz Launcher and you can get the app on the Android Play Store here. There are a lot of different themes to choose from, enabling you to have your phone display your favourite GG pics. You can set your images as links to web pages, apps, etc. You can, for example, set a picture to open your regions GG seller site.

Achilles, a new rebuildable atomizer

After the new tank (Ithaka) probably the most exciting new product Imeo has up his sleeve is Achilles, a new rebuildable atomizer.

It looks like a 510 fitting so it will be a very desirable item as it you will be able with to use it on just about everything. In the video below Imeo uses it for dripping and inside a UFS. The video is from a few months back so development for the Achilles has probably advanced a lot from then.

Over the last few months there seems to have been a bigger push by Imeo to supply the great demand for GG products. More and more people are starting to get into Golden Greek products and demand is still very high for all GG items.

I know at the moment Imeo is working on getting Ithakas produced, then plans on getting more GGTS and Stealth units made. By the time he has finished with these Imeo will have finalised the design of Achilles and they should be available.

I predict these will be very popular and expect a big increase in the amount of people looking to buy GG products. If you want to follow progress on the Achilles the official thread is HERE.

Vape Revolution

While going through the March pictures for My Golden Greek I found these pictures posted by bossplaya29. They show a custom GG by Vape Revolution in California.

Apparently this mod has black diamonds as well as the beautiful engraving. I think this has to be the nicest looking GG I've ever seen. I couldn't find any more information about it but you can visit their website at this address.

Vape Revolution

Google Plus...done.

+My Golden Greek  on Google Plus is all set up and running now. I have uploaded about 28 albums full of pictures to the photo section. By viewing the photo's on Google Plus, you can scroll easily though the pictures and even start a slideshow if you want some eye candy while you vape.

Don't forget to add +My Golden Greek to your circles while you're there to stay updated with all the new pictures and other GG related news.

Vape Artist

There are over a thousand photo's on the My Golden Greek site at the time I am writing this. I love them all. From the grainy cell phone pics to the professionally set up photo's, they all mean something to the person that took them.

I am reluctant to favour any pictures as I wouldn't want to imply that having a favourite meant I felt other pictures were any less important. However, among the pictures that I upload every month, one person's pictures really stand out.

This person is Nudelholz. I mentioned him a couple of posts back but felt he deserved more of a mention. His photo's are super clear and sexy. If I had some product I needed photographing, this is the guy I'd ask for. He seems to produce better and better pictures every month and it is always a pleasure seeing what he has come up with.

He has a website featuring his work, which you can visit by clicking the picture below. You can also download some great wallpapers there too.

Ithaka

I have been very busy recently and have fallen way behind with all the latest GG stuff. I am slowly getting back up to speed though and the newest innovation I am looking forward to is the Ithaka.

I use my Oddy all the time can't fault it so it will be interesting to see how Ithaka performs.
